Hiʻilani + Geoff | Waimea Valley Waterfall Wedding | Hawaii Wedding Photographer

We all know how tough it’s been during COVID. Which is why I have even more respect for the brides and grooms planning a wedding during this time. Hi’ilani reached out to me a while back to shoot her wedding at Kamehameha School’s chapel. Everything was set, she booked the date, we were ready to go.

Then all her plans had to change. But instead of just cancelling or postponing, she decided to go forward in a new location. So that meant changing everything last minute. And for anyone that’s planned a wedding, you know how difficult that is. Yet every time I spoke with her and Geoff, every time I saw then on the wedding day, there was an easygoing smile on their faces. That’s a testament to how amazing this couple is.

We started the day getting ready in Waikiki at the Ilikai Hotel. Funny, I pass by this hotel every time I go to surf, but I’ve never actually been inside. It’s beautiful!

Then we all got in our cars and head up to the North Shore for the ceremony and reception in Waimea Valley. If you search through some of my other blog posts, you’ll know that I’ve shot in the valley many times and always absolutely love it. There’s always something new I discover. This time, we were having the ceremony right by the waterfall! First time I’ve ever done that. They shut down the whole place just for us.

I’ve been spending some time in Sacramento with my wife this year. We go back to Hawaii in July. But just getting to be home for a few days, getting to shoot this beautiful wedding, getting to see old Kamehameha friends again, it reminded me of both why I love photography, and also why I love home.

Hi’ilani and Geoff, mahalo for allowing me to be a part of this beautiful day! You are both so inspiring! Can’t wait to see what God has in store for you both and your marriage!
